Town and Country, January 1998

Considering they were once worth their weight in gold, how strange that most modern mirrors barely merit a second look. Not so the creations of Bark New York, sister company to Manhattan based Bark Frameworks, maker of innovative frames for fine art and photography. "We're trying restore the idea of mirror as object, not as function," says Jared Bark, who, along with partner Miguel Oks, is responsible for the studio's designs. The mirrors in their 22-piece debut collection- jewel-like, hand silvered, all bubbly glass and glowing surfaces- are as much object of contemplation as reflection. Priced from $1200, they're made to order, and ready in eight to ten weeks.
