"When the Brooklyn Museum needed to reframe one of its Monets, it turned to Bark Frameworks, the same people who framed nearly the entire Met photography collection. Prices range from $150 into the thousands, but all frames are custom-crafted and designed, and customers like Brice Marden, Richard Serra, Nan Goldin, Richard Avedon, and Jasper Johns think they're worth it. At Bark Frameworks, we value, above all, designing frames for individual works of art. Known for framing canvases by artists from the 1970s until today, we have continued to refine our designs of simple float frames in aluminum, brass, and hardwoods.
We have recently made frames for important works by artists such as Pissarro and Degas, based on our research of the artists' own designs. These frames may be gilded, or painted, as the artists often specified.
For other paintings from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, we have designed mouldings and finishes inspired by dealers' and collectors' frames, historically appropriate to the work of art. For certain of these works, the frames are embellished with carved or composition ornament.
